Carl Strugnell, fresh from gaining his third IM norm, dominated the Swansea International rapidplay with a perfect 9/9.
Finishing second in this two-day competition, played with a time control of 25 minutes plus 10 seconds per move, was Ian Jones with 6/6. Sharing third, just 0.5 points behind, were Richard Cleveland and Mike Burrows. Neil Stevenson won the junior prize.
Playing conditions at the venue, a lecture hall on the Swansea University Campus, were excellent. A follow-up competition is being planned, again with a rapidplay format.
