Event Rules
This event is a qualifying tournament for the LJCC Under 12 Finals to be held on 28, 29 and 30 December, U10 Finals to be held on 13 and 14th December, and Under 8 Finals to be held on 29 and 30 December.
To qualify, one needs:
4/6 or more for U8,
4.5/6 or more for U10 Major,
3.5 or 4/6 for U10 Minor,
4.5/6 or more for U12 Major,
3.5/6 or 4 for U12 Minor.
Players who qualify for a Major event may not play in the corresponding Minor event.
Entry fee: £15 before Oct 13, 2025, £20 after.

10.00am Round 1
11.10am Round 2
12.20pm Round 3
1.30pm Round 4
2.40pm Round 5
3.50pm Round 6
Rate of play: all moves in 20 minutes with a 10 second increment for each move starting from move 1.
Byes: no byes.
Withdrawals: regrettably, refunds will not be considered until the cost of overheads are met.
Exclusions/transfers: The organizers reserve the right to refuse or transfer entries.
Late arrivals: All competitors will be allowed 20 minutes on their clocks and then defaulted.
Appeals: Any appeal against an Arbiter’s decision will be subject to a formal appeals procedure, to be detailed at the event.

Ratings: The Sep 25 FIDE rapid rating will be used for pairings. In the absence of a FIDE rating, WCU or ECF rapid rating will be used. The event will be WCU rated; if you want to be ECF/other national federation rated, please contact your federation rating officer in advance.
Section restrictions:
All players must be registered members of WCU, ECF, or any other national chess federation at the time of entry.
For U12s the entrant must be born on Sep 1, 2013, midnight or later.
For U10s the entrant must be born on Sep 1, 2015, midnight, or later.
For U8s the entrant must be born in on Sep 1, 2017, midnight, or later.
Directions to the Venue: Lakeside Primary School, Ontario Way, Cardiff CF23 6HB. Heath High/Heath Low stations are 15 minutes away walking distance, but Heath High might not be wheelchair accessible. If driving, expect to park on the street outside, school parking is extremely limited.
