Ratings: The April 2023 FIDE and latest published National ratings will be used for this event.

 

Withdrawals: Regrettably, refunds will not be considered until the cost of overheads are met.

 

Exclusions/Transfers: The organisers reserve the right to refuse or transfer entries.

 

Late arrivals: All competitors will be allowed 30 minutes on their clocks in any round and then defaulted.

 

Photographs: Photographs taken at the event may be used on WCU website and other publicity.

Prizes: Only the highest prize will be awarded to any player eligible for more than one prize.

Exceptions: The Welsh Women’s and Welsh U21 Championship prizes are additional. Players may win either/both of these prizes AND one

Other prize.

 

Appeals: Any appeal against the decision of an arbiter must be made in writing with supporting reasons within 30 minutes of the end of the game and  accompanied by a deposit of £50. The decision of the Chief Arbiter (or Deputy Chief Arbiter if the Chief Arbiter made the original decision) is final and cannot be appealed. The deposit will be returned if the appeal is upheld.

 

Byes:

CHAMPIONSHIP: A ½ point bye may be claimed in round 1 only.

OPEN: A maximum of two ½ point byes may be claimed in the first 5 rounds.

 

Rate of play: 40 moves in 90 minutes, followed by 30 minutes to finish the game, with an increment of 30 seconds per move from move 1.
