9th Welsh Senior Championships and Under 50's Weekend Congress

26th-28th September 2025

 

Regulations

The FIDE laws of chess apply except where amended on this form

Ratings: The September 2025 FIDE and latest published National ratings will be used for this event.

 

Eligibility:

               Over 50s. Players must be born in 1975 or earlier.

               Over 65s. Players must be born in 1960 or earlier.

               Under 50s. Players must be born in 1976 or later.

 

Withdrawals: Regrettably, refunds will not be considered until the cost of overheads are met.

 

Exclusions/Transfers: The organisers reserve the right to refuse or transfer entries.

 

Late arrivals: All competitors will be allowed 30 minutes on their clocks in any round and then defaulted.

 

Photographs: Photographs taken at the event may be used on WCU website and other publicity.

Please contact Kevin Staveley by email prior to the event if you do not wish your photo to be used in publicity.

 

Prizes: Prizes are dependent on entry numbers and will be published nearer the event

 

Appeals: Any appeal against the decision of an arbiter must be made in writing with supporting reasons within 30 minutes of the end of the game and  accompanied by a deposit of £50. The decision of the Chief Arbiter (or Deputy Chief Arbiter if the Chief Arbiter made the original decision) is final and cannot be appealed. The deposit will be returned if the appeal is upheld.

 

Byes:

A ½ point bye may be claimed in any of the first 4 rounds

 

Rate of play: All moves in 90 minutes with an increment of 30 seconds per move from move 1.

Seniors: If there are too few players for either section, then the organisers reserve the right to combine the O50s and O65s into one section. There will still be separate prizes for each age section
