Welcome
We are pleased to announce that the 2027 WCU Winter Chess Congress returns to the Best Western Hotel, Bridgend: five rounds over a weekend, two sections, and every game FIDE rated.
The congress is open to any FIDE-registered member of the Welsh Chess Union or of another national federation. For the Major section, players must have a published FIDE rating of 1850 or below. If you don't have a FIDE ID yet, that is easily fixed — see Regulations for how to get one before the congress.

All moves in 90 minutes, with a 30 second cumulative increment from move one. Competitors may claim up to 2 half point byes in any of the first four rounds. All first round byes must be claimed at the times of entry.
