Rule changes for 2025-26

  1. Team lists have to be in by 9pm on the day before the round. (sec 7)
  2. Captains must use the online form to upload the team.
  3. Board pairings will be published online by 10:00am on the day of the round.
  4. Teams have the option to add up to 2 reserve players. These must be added to the team list by the deadline. (sec 14)
  5. An appeal process has been added. (sec 16)
  6. The tie-break regarding the result between tied teams has been removed. Game points is now the first tie-break. (sec 8.3.2)

Defaults

Should a team default a match then the opposing team will be awarded 2 match points and full game points (i.e. 6 for the Premier League and 4 for the Under-1850 League). Additionally the team defaulting will have 2 match points deducted.

In the U1850 League the team receiving a bye will be awarded two match points and 4 game points.

Squad changes

Squad changes can be made (as per rules) from 3rd–18th January inclusive. No further changes may be made after this date. Please forward any changes by email to Kevin Staveley and CC executivedirector@welshchessunion.uk.

Penalties: Penalty points (0.5 per board defaulted without prior warning) are deducted from board points to determine match results.
