Welsh Junior Chirag Guha hits 2000

On 22nd February, a day before his 13th birthday, Welsh Junior Chirag Guha hit a grading of 2000.

Chirag stared playing chess while at Birchgrove Junior School, and soon joined North Cardiff Chess Club. Chirag had great success while at junior school, including winning the British Under 10 Championship. In summer 2015 the family moved to Birmingham, and Chirag now attends Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School, Sutton Coldfield. He currently plays for Sutton Coldfield, and gained the four grading points to take him to 2000 in the Birmingham and District Trophy.

He thanks his Welsh coaches Tim Kett and John Thornton, who have provided guidance and encouragement throughout his journey in chess.
