Junior Selection Criteria

Junior Selection Criteria for the World and European Youth Championships

The Junior Chess Committee wishes to see that players selected for the World Youth and European Youth events are committed and of a suitable strength.

Accordingly:

Players who refuse selection for the Glorney Gilbert event or all the matches against the English regions without good reason will not be selected for the following World Youth or European Youth Championships. (A pre-booked holiday will not be considered a good reason.)

Players who do not participate in one of the Welsh Junior Championship competitions, without good reason will not be selected for the World or European Youth Championships.

In addition, the Junior Chess Committee has laid down minimum grade qualifications for selection for the World and European Youth Championships.
