Dear friends, FIDE wishes a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, a Happy new year and all the best for 2018 to all chess lovers all around the world. Gens Una Sumus! Fédération Internationale des Échecs
At the Welsh Junior rapidplay, held at At Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf on Saturday 16 December, Madeleine Smith won the Under 14s, Hiya Ray the Under 12s, Tom Davies the Under 10s, and the U8 title was shared between Isabelle Ceasar and Andy Wang. Dear All, It seems that (more or less) I am slowly back in business and ready to answer your questions again! I would like to thank you all for your kind wishes and moral support and to wish you a Happy New Year 2018. Enjoy the attachment! All the best A team from Chepstow has won the 2017 Yes2Chess title after beating Stora Hammars Skola from Hollvoken, near Malmo, in the final held at the London Chess Classic. The Chepstow side that won the match 7.5 to 2.5 were given the opportunity to play due to the success of the players at last summer’s ECF Under 11 Open. Lining up against an under 12s side from Sweden were three players that are now at Chepstow School – Harrison Postans, Steffan Griffiths and Thomas Davies – plus two from The Dell, Oliver Sapsford and Nia Rathkey. In view of the weather forecast for the South Wales area overnight and the weather warning issued for the area this event is cancelled.
It is hoped it can be rearranged in the New Year.
