On Saturday 8th April nearly 30 children played in a local, five-round competition divided into two sections: under 9s and under 11s. The Finals of the ECF National Girls Schools Chess Championships took place this weekend (1st/2nd April) at St Catherine’s School in Bramley. Two teams from Howell’s School qualified for the U19 section and faced off against teams from Bartholomew School (Oxford), The Fernwood School (Nottingham), North London Collegiate, and St Pauls Girls’ School (London).
