Colwyn Bay – New website

Colwyn Bay Chess Club now has a website dedicated to their club. The URL is: www.colwynbaychess.org.uk.

A new episode of The Simpsons, “The Cad and the Hat”, will be shown on SKY1 this Sunday evening at 6.30pm.

In this story Homer shows off his skills on the Chess board. The guest star is Magnus Carlsen.

Sad news has been received that about three weeks ago former Welsh Champion John Denley Mills passed away at Royal Gwent Hospital.

The WCU Management Board wish to send their deepest sympathies to John’s family and friends at their sad loss.

The FIDE Presidential Board has now confirmed that John Thornton has now been officially awarded the FIDE Arbiter (FA) title.

Congratulations John on acheiving this title.

Sarah Rowles celebrated her 81st Birthday last month.

She has just qualified for her first Fide rating, a very respectable 1708.

Congratulations Sarah, you are an inspiration to us all!
