Important notice for all Club Secretaries

INSURANCE

For season 2017/18 we have reviewed the WCU insurances, to improve and clarify the insurance cover for members. From 1 September 2017, all WCU registered members are covered by the new policy.

Membership fees are due by 30 November 2017. During the period 1 September to 30 November 2017, members will be covered if they were registered for season 2016/17. From 1 December 2017, they will only be covered from that date or the date of receipt of their fees by their club treasurer, whichever is the later.

The WCU policy covers all normal risks, including public liability, but specifically excludes non-members and club equipment. Clubs are advised to take out their own equipment cover, although this may be dependent upon insurers’ assessment of the level of security available at each club. (That is the reason why the WCU is unable to take up such cover).

The insurers have imposed a condition in the policy that in order to be covered, each club must be registered with the WCU. To be able to demonstrate that registration, we require each club to pay the WCU a nominal registration fee. In view of the short notice, the registration fee for 2017/18 will be set at only £5 / club, but will increase to £10 / club in the following season. This will be significantly cheaper than the insurance cover which would otherwise be taken by individual clubs. Would club treasurers please pay this club registration fee via the zone treasurers at the same time as the member registrations.
